Up until June 6, 2012, this was not an uncommon practice here in Colorado, however, on that date, the Colorado State Legislature passed Senate Bill 38 which makes it illegal for a roofing contractor to pay, waive, or rebate, or even promise to pay, waive, or rebate a homeowner's insurance deductible. In fact, the law states that there must be a comment in bold font on the roofer's contract stating that he will not pay the deductible in whole or in part.
